About Me (In My Own Words)
Update: Made it back home end of July after mitral valve replacement on 7-22-20. Also a Tricuspid ring placement and a Maze procedure which apparently has worked up until now.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it all continues.
Cleveland Clinic is a fantastic place and a very caring collection of
professional people.
Initial story:Waiting for an opening to open up somewhere and get on a schedule. No one knows when this may happen. "Reopening" dates keep getting extended. I have spoken to Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic as well as my local University of Kansas folks about what must be done. Most surgeons are consistent about the need for a full Mitral valve replacement and most are reluctant to try a Maze II. I have been living with this for over 20 years with valvuloplasty attempts and medicine to forestall a stroke. Even had a left mitral appendage lariat procedure to assist on this.
I now have a tentative appointment at Cleveland Clinic, checking in on July 20, 2020. I say "tentative" as I have been bumped off the list by another hospital due to the shutdown. You know what the farmers used to say to "never count your chickens until they hatch", well I am not counting very loudly.
