About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 74 years of age and had Heart Surgery 9 months ago.
The 7 1/2 hour surgery was to repair the Mitral and Tricuspid
Valve, along with a Double By-pass!
I am experiencing post surgery, vertigo, equilibrium and
Vision disturbances. These periodic symptoms include a cloud
Like 1/3 blocked out vision In the right eye, and a constant double
Vision, that is evident with lights at night. I sometimes experience
Migraine auras, yet this was a symptom I had years prior to the
Surgery.
My Optometrist found no issue with the eyes, yet my eye symptoms
Along with the fact I had recently been taken off blood thinners,
Made him extremely concerned! Upon his talks with the Cardiologist,
I am currently back on a low dose aspirin, and as a precaution am
Wearing a two week heart monitor, and will undergo a Transesophageal
Echocardiogram to determine if there is any possible clotting around
The heart valves or other issues!
Other then that, I am feeling and doing quite well. Cardiac Rehab was
Great and really helped. Currently am working out, exercising, and hiking
Most of all I am full of gratitude for having my energetic life back again! :)
