About Me (In My Own Words)
In December of 2017 I went to the ER with pain in my abdomen thinking that my appendix had burst. After a CT scan I was told that it was an ovarian cyst that had ruptured and was referred to a gynecologist. After then being diagnosed with PCOS, (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), my gynecologist had noticed fluid buildup at the base of my heart. Hesitant to prescribe birth control to me she recommended that I see a cardiologist. So, from January to March of 2018 I had an echocardiogram and an MRI. It was then that the doctors found out that I had mild to severe aortic regurgitation. I will be getting my surgery this March at Northwestern Medicine with Dr. Christopher Malaisrie! I am very excited to feel so much better and look forward to being able to take long walks and ride a bike.
