About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 66 years old. Bicuspid, newbie. While on vacation abroad I felt chest tightening and discomfort in jaw and back if the head after brisk walking, several times. It would go away in seconds after stopping. Net, it turns out I have severe aortic stenosis without symptoms yet … unless I walk fast. It turns out my coronarias are fairly clean, and no heart thickening has occurred. Lucky me. I am in the midst of the usual dilemma regarding whether to proceed with valve replacement, or wait … what valve, etc etc. I was diabetic and hyper tense until two-three years ago. My numbers are back to consistently normal without any medication . I am having trouble weighing risks (COVID, valve replacement complications ) vs benefits (avoid further deterioration, etc). Would appreciate any perspective/advice out there . The site has already removed so much uncertainty !! Best
