About Me (In My Own Words)
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses and belief of the sanctity of blood I have asked Dr. Farivar to perform my open heart surgery without the use of blood.
I have always had a difficult time catching my breath since I was a child. Even though I have been running Ultra Marathons, Triathlons and other fun runs I learned to keep my pace slow and be patient. I began noticing a nauseous feeling more than 15 years ago. I had different heart doctors examine me with 2 stress tests. No one found anything. But about 10 years ago my PCP Dr Biggerstaff noticed a murmur. This began my diagnosis. So happy to know why I have struggled while everyone around me seemed to have no problems.
Aortic valve replacement with left atrial appendage ligation.
Oct 7th- Hemoglobin 14.6. Infusion of Epoetin alfa-epbx (RETACRIT)
Oct 13th- Hemoglobin 14.8. Infusion of Epoetin alfa-epbx (RETACRIT)
Oct 15th- Angioplasty. Went well.
Oct 17th- Signed all the proper consent forms for bloodless surgery.
