About Me (In My Own Words)
After monitoring my mitral valve prolapse for several years, the decision was made a few months ago to have it repaired before it got to the point of having to be replaced. Though I am 62 years old, I am in very good physical condition with no other health issues. As a result, I had further tests taken and it was determined I was a candidate for minimally invasive robotic surgery. Long story short, I am scheduled to have this surgery performed next Tuesday January 17th at 7:00 a.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital here in Cincinnati with Dr. J. Michael Smith performing the surgery. Even though it's scheduled to be minimally invasive surgery, it's still heart surgery on me with all of the associated risks and anxieties I have and that I am sure all heart surgery patients experience(d). Reading Adam's book and most of the blogs from other patients on this site has been great and I know that God is ultimately in charge of all of this. However, I wanted to start this journal to share with others my experiences going through this as well as hopefully getting some encouragement and experiences from some of you.
