About Me (In My Own Words)
Multiple echocardiograms showed increasing aortic stenosis until symptoms appeared in 2023. I had every intention of getting TAVR, until I met Dr. Jeremy McGarvey. He does surgical and TAVR and his specialty is minimally invasive aortic valve replacement or "Mini AVR". He convinced me that surgical was actually a lower risk and a better choice for me at age 73. I gained such confidence in him that I signed up for surgery I had intended to avoid.
After the surgery, I had a 2.25" incision. Dr. McGarvey showed me a photo of my old valve which was some variation of a bicuspid. He also found big blobs of calcium attached to my aorta which he had to remove. This left a bunch of holes in my aorta. He said to me "No problem, I just took tissue from elsewhere in your heart to repair the holes. Just added 30 minutes to the procedure." Wow, is this a great surgeon or what.
I'm coming to find that everyone who knows Dr. McGarvey loves him. I sure do.
