About Me (In My Own Words)
My valve story started when in 1960 i was diagnosed with Tetralogy of fallot at the age of 2. I had my 1st surgery ( one of the 1st in the US ) the Taussig, Blalock shunt that went great. Then i was told that would hold me over until i was old enough, and strong enough to have my complete TOF repair. So at age 8 i had my complete TOF repair. It was called complete but since they removed my Pulmonary valve completely i would eventually need a 3rd surgery to install the pulmonary valve that was removed in my " complete " surgery. Now at age 64 i am having troubles with my heart that i should have had repaired when i was in my 40's.. My surgery is scheduled for October 24th, 2023 with a pulmonary artery banding to make the artery small enough to except my new Pulmonary valve..BTW after my complete surgery when i was 8 years old, i went on to play basketball, soccer, football, and track and field. There is great hope for all of us heart patents.
