About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with a heart murmur at aged 14 by a school health doctor. I had rheumatic fever at about 10years old and it caused damage to the aortic valve. I became very unwell and saw Sir (dr) Geoffrey McDonald cardiologist who referred me to surgeon Dr David Leckie. I was Australia’s first recipient of the Starr Edwards Aortic valve ( I only became aware of this in October 2020 thanks to Edwards in Australia). I am soon to turn 84 years old and have led a very happy active life. I am married to Fay and we celebrate 64years of marriage this month, 4 children, grandchildren and great children. Without the valve replacement my life would be a very different story.
