About Me (In My Own Words)
I don't have a surgery date yet, although I will see my cardiologist again in June, so we talked about scheduling a surgery in July.
I have Mitral Valve Prolapse. From my limited research, I'm hoping I qualify for the robotic surgery with the DiVinci. My cardiologist told me she prefers an open heart surgery to the catheter procedure through the vein near the groin. But I haven't asked her about the robotic procedure yet.
She is part of the UCLA health network. I saw online that UCLA does have a DiVinci and they do valve repair, but I have not found as much online content from UCLA as I have from Cedar Sinai. I wonder if I should ask her to refer me there - I don't even know if that is possible. Both hospitals are in my Blue Cross health insurance network, so maybe.
This is my present point on my mitral valve repair journey.... anxiety.
It's nice to read about other people's experiences on this site. It sure helps ease my stress. It doesn't seem like anyone on here had their procedure at UCLA, so I guess I can't get any direct information.
