About Me (In My Own Words)
I was in the middle of pre-op testing for a hip replacement when they discovered I had a mitral valve prolapse with severe regurgitation. In less than a month, I was getting open-heart surgery. The worst-case scenario was that I would need a valve replacement (bovine), but my surgeon was able to salvage and repair my valve. I was out of the hospital in four days and am currently in cardiac rehab. I've had no issues thus far. After surgery, I learned that my surgeon is affectionately called "The Valve Lady." I am so blessed to have had her and her team take care of me.
