About Me (In My Own Words)
Been tracking this for more than two years and the aneurysm has slowly grown and is now at 57mm. Had a previous meeting in December 2022 with a cardiac surgeon and he said I was in no danger. Thankfully my cardiologist disagreed and scheduled another CT to confirm the measurement. With the new CT scan measuring the root at 56mm-57mm they referred me to UAB. My bicuspid aortic valve is operating ok but there are some deformities and will probably be replaced during the surgery. I have been highly active throughout my life and over the last two years I have been very limited both physically and psychologically. My hope is that with a new aorta and valve I can return to a more physically active life. I am nervous about the surgery but hopefully the improved quality of life possibilities.
