About Me (In My Own Words)
On 4/11/24 I was at a pre-op physical for a carpal tunnel release surgery when my physician heard a heart murmur and verified with EKG that something was off. This was a shock as I get an annual physical every year and to that point in time I actually had 2 physicals in less than a year (an annual, and another pre-op for another surgery) and nothing was picked up or discovered. My blood pressure was always in the 120/70 range all through my 30's and I never had any symptoms that would indicate any problems. Fast forward to 7/9/2024 at a follow up for a TEE procedure with my cardiologist and it was confirmed I had a Bi-Cuspid Aortic Valve, with moderate stenosis, and moderate to severe regurgitation. Left ventricle was at normal function with 55-65% EF but my left ventricle was enlarged. Prior to this I had a calcium score test which came back negative. Also found that the aorta was dilated to 4.0 CM. After several consults with surgeons I decided to have my at Hartford Hospital in Hartford CT with Dr. Hagberg. I was very comfortable at the consult with him and my gut said, this is the guy! I'm schedule to have a Heart Cath procedure on 10/28 and then on 11/5/24 the aortic valve replacement surgery.
