About Me (In My Own Words)
I\'ve had aortic stenosis as long as I can remember. The Docs always asked if I knew I had a murmer. I had my first OHS in Feb of 2009. They replaced my bicuspid aortic valve with a bovine tissue valve. I tolerated the surgery quite well and all was hunky dory until two years later when I contracted endocarditis. That bug just about killed me!. However, thanks to two very talented heart surgeons and their staffs, I lived to tell about it! I now have a Homograph which is a cadaver part including the aortic valve and root.I also had a hole repaired in my left ventricle and one in my aortic artery.
I just passed a stress test and I\'m on my way to passing my USCG physical to get my Captain\'s license back. I teach sailing and I can\'t wait to get back out on the water! I can\'t say enough about the professional, talented and dedicated people responsible for saving my life. There\'s not a day goes by without me feeling that gratitude!
