About Me (In My Own Words)
I went to a routine physical, and doctor heard a murmur. Met with cardiologist and had an echo done. That’s when I found out I have a bicuspid aorta heart valve, at 44 years old. Zero symptoms. Follow up 6 months later, and aneurysm was growing in size. Had CT done and also learned the my left ventricle was enlarging. Meet with surgeon and created a plan, set an operating date. Plan A is the David procedure, valve-sparing aortic root replacement. Plan B is replace with a mechanical valve. Surgeon was able to repair the valve and repair aneurysm with a Dacron graft. A month post op I’m doing well.
