About Me (In My Own Words)
I had rheumatic fever at the age of six or seven. My aortic valve acquired some scar tissue. It is a bicuspid valve. I do not know whether that was congenital or the result of scarring. In recent years the performance of my aortic valve has deteriorated. I have scheduled an aortic valve replacement surgery for 13 June 2011. At this point, I am wavering between a mechanical and a biological replacement valve.
