My cardiologist and the surgical team tell me that the angiogram results show that the aortic valve is larger than the largest one that can be inserted via TAVR, so they are recommending thoracic surgery; saying that while recovery time is longer, the advantages are that the valve ring will be less likely to leak and that the potential need to add a pacemaker will be significantly reduced.
In a few days I have my next follow-up with the cardiologist, so I've got lots of questions. No surgery date yet
