About Me (In My Own Words)
Dx in 2009 with Bicuspid Aortic Valve....was monitored for many years. I was very active with cycling, running marathons and hiking. In 2023 ECHO continued to show severe Aortic stenosis yet no symptoms. Finally in Aug of 2024, cardiologist suggested testing to see if I was a candidate for TAVR, unfortunately not a candidate so had a SAVR done in Dec 04 2024. Unable to get my atrium and ventricles coordinating well, so 5 days later I had a permanent pacer implanted. Never was symptomatic prior to surgery but definitely needed. No blood pressure, issues, no arrhythmias nor diabetes. Now I am on Cardiam CD and resting HR 82...Getting used to pacemaker 60-150 are my parameters and have been in cardiac rehab for 4 weeks. Still realizing that my endurance needs to build up and not to expect things to happen quickly. Having said that I have been an RN since 1989 and being a patient not going down rabbit holes because I overthink things. Also trying to understand my pacemaker has been a challenge. My EP surgeon is a gem however his nurses are very reluctant for my to come in and discuss some of my nuances that I have had with my pacer. ( whilst at Cardiac rehab HR was 121 why working out and immediately dropped to 62 and felt a like I hit a wall) and a second time while at home resting I had a sustained HR greater than 120 for over 3 hours...asked for an appt and they said for me to just wait a few months and not to overthink things...
Hoping to share and gain insight as my new norm with SAVR and pacemaker
