About Me (In My Own Words)
Diagnosed with Mitral Valve Regurgitation, Severe. Scheduled to have open heart surgery for repair or replacement. Work in a hospital which i care not to name; Supervisor denied the time because she says the surgery is elective. Not quite sure how it is she gets to determine that since she's not a physician. HR says final decision will be made after assessing FMLA, my supervisor and my surgeon's opinions. Originally, he wanted me to have it the first part of December. For more than three months my symptoms have been, short of breath, light headed and numb, tingling in left arm. Something is really wrong with this picture. While the surgeon hasn't exactly changed his mind about the date, there is more ambiguity suddenly. One of the things the hospital has done recently is cut hours and hire more people part time; thing is, those of us still there are still qualified for health benefits while the newbies are not. I'm wondering if they're hoping I'll quit so that they won't have to cover the medical bill. I also have Supraventricular Tachardia. I am at my wit's end. I'm trying to go into this calmly. Do I have to have a heart attack before they "get it"? What, if anything, can I do, aside from contacting an attorney
