About Me (In My Own Words)
When I was 18 I had trouble falling asleep and I told my doctor I felt like I was dying. My doctor said I had a really bad heart murmur in need to take some medicine for it. Being 18 I think it said on my dresser for the next two years. Then when I was 23 I got pregnant for the first time and that was when I found out I had congenital bicuspid aortic valve with my mild stenosis. I was told I would have to have surgery when I was 40 or 50. And of course I ignore that. Then when I was 27 I had my second daughter and after I gave birth to her I develop pregnancy induced cardiomyopathy. My ejection fraction was down below 30% but thank God it went back up. Since then I paid attention to the cardiologist and went for my three times a year echocardiograph appointments. When I was 35 years old I had a major blood clot that killed off part of my kidney and I found out I also had a blood disorder called MTHFR mutation. Ironically one of the mutations of that disorder can cause blood clots heart attacks and strokes. Just recently as in last week I have gone from mild to moderate stenosis. I know surgery is coming up and like musty you I am scared to death. Of course when you're 18, 40 or 50 seems eons away but now I'm 41. Time sure does fly when you're having fun. My biggest fear is having the valve transplant with this blood disorder I also have. I look forward to meeting everybody and hearing stories and getting answers.
