I feel your pain and the prospect of going through another surgery is not appealing. I have a tissue valve and am 6 mos. out now (Kelowna BC). I am always doing research for myself to enhance my health care because I am Type 2. I am interested in how and why heart valves calcify and how to prevent this issue. I believe that I must educate myself in things so that I can have a conversation with my doctor. It is not my nature to accept verbatim what I am told, however, if your valve is going south then there really isn't much to discuss except the type of valve you are going to use.
Our doctors are good at acute care but lousy at prevention and nutrition and it is incumbent on you to figure out if they are telling you the truth.

Marion Clare Hi Bob, I was interested to hear your comments. I have had type 1 diabetes now for 49 years so have I suppose a double whammy. But because of constant attention to it I have had consistently good control for most of my life. I am also a strict vegetarian, never ever eat any processed foods whatsoever, and watch fats etc and consider my diet is as good as it gets. What else can you do? If your research gives you most enlightenment I would love to know please. I'm in Victoria, BC. not too far away from you. Marion
