Hi Im Garry i have had mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation for several years. It appears no i have a ruptured chordea on the posterior leaflet I am in Canada , i believe and hope i can have mitral valve repair and also feel i am a candidate for robotic surgery but so far my surgeon feels he can do the surgery less invasive than robotic. In our health care system as a patient we generally can not choose

Susan Lynn Garry - Robotic is generally considered the least invasive entry to access the heart, but it can result in longer bypass and surgical time. What was your surgeon recommending? I don't think it's MitraClip since you also need a chord repair. Just curious.

Thomas Brusstar BTW, fixing my valve involved just removing the floppy part of the posterior leaflet, to which my broken chordae had been attached. So all that went in the surgical dustbin and they didn’t need any artificial chordae to fix me. Mine was a sternotomy (surgeon said better outcome and more flexible options once he’s in there and sees what there is to do), so I have a scar souvenir that is almost invisible now.
