Hi Thomas. Wanted you to know we are thinking about you and praying for team and staff. It\'s very hard when it gets down to the wire. I specially requested that I not know when we were rolling out the door toward OR. I asked a good friend who is an awesome anesthesiologist to please help me with that. He did, too. No memory of saying see you later to my family.
You are going to do fine.

Tom,
I have been in your shoes.....I can say when you start planning for time off ensure things are all prepped, I spent a month waiting, even though we thought we had a go, it does suck having to get your \"affairs in order\" . my advice is to nose to grind stone and realize you will go thru a gambit of emotions.
good luck

Thomas Colavecchio Hi Matthew,
Thanks for taking time to read, and for the comments.
I can only imagine the waiting, and the anxiety that it will come with that. I am hoping, at least for right now, to be able to continue with work for as long as possible prior the surgery date. At least in that way I hope to remain mentally occupied!! For me busy is always better...
Thanks again for your thoughts!!

Hi Tom, I completely understand where you are. I have been following the blog, read the book and making preliminary \"to do\" lists for several years, thinking that it would be ages before this day came. Three weeks ago my doctor told me \"soon, you are now severe\", and today he told me \"it\'s time now\". So, prepared as I feel I am, it is now preparation time. Knowing what we know thanks to Adam and this site is reassuringand empowering, however, when your doctor looks right at you and says \"now\" it is still a bit daunting. You have the support of many others, as do we all. I will follow your blog and offer all the encouragement I can, along with lots of prayers. Keep looking forward.

Thomas Colavecchio Hi Sherry,
Thank you for taking the time to read my first stab at writing here, and for taking the extra step to reply and share your thoughts.
Daunting is an excellent word to describe that initial reality check. While somewhere in my mind I accepted that the inevitable that would some day come to the forefront, now that this stage of my planning is upon me I still find myself "half - believing" what is about to happen.
None the less I am indeed trying to look forward, with positivity!
I will continue to follow you as well, and will be here to offer any support to you that I can.
Again, thanks for reaching out!!!
Tom
