Hi Thierry
I just had the big op at insel spital. Dr Carrel performed the op and I on,y ha d a lot of praise for him. It was quite complicated ....mechanical valve and aortic graft. All what I heard hear is that he is the best in Switzerland and one of the best in the world. INSEL staff are very professional and my cut healed completely within 2 weeks. I know prof Carrel also does the Ross procedure. He is actually a specialist on on operating on children, which not all dr can do.....it is much more delicate. I can onlyrecommend you to meet him. Good luck. Martin

Your doing the right thing with your research. There are three places in the US I would consider for the Ross. Keck in California, Mt. Sinai and Indiana University Health (John Brown). All seem to have the best experience and to have perfected it for good results. The good news is that your looking at who has done this the most with the best results. Do not be afraid to ask about their statistics with re-operation rates, complications, mortality rates, etc... Good luck and the technology now is very good, you should do fine.

I will have my mitral valve repaired by Dr. Adams at Mt. Sinai in November. I am highly satisfied with Dr. Adams. Best wishes as you make your selection.
Thank you for your kind comments! It is quite stressful yet very interesting research! What a good experience! All my best wishes for your mitral valve repair !

I have a very limited point of view, USA only. I recently had my heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. My family and I set a goal of finding the best hospital and best surgeon for my aortic valve and aneurysm repair. Cleveland and Dr. Svensson at Cleveland met both criteria. I am 100 percent satisfied with every aspect of my care there.

Thierry Dubois Thank you very much for your kind comment. In terms of USA, I have now narrowed my choice to Cleveland Clinic and Mt Sinai in New York. Both seem to have heart surgeons who have a great deal of experience in the Ross technique! My question and search is also on Switzerland and two surgeons there!

Hi! I had my mind made up to receive a mechanical valve but was Leary of having the coumadin forever. At the last minute I decided on the tissue valve. I am praying I won\'t need surgery before next 15 - 20 years. First surgery was a real hard thing to go through, don\'t want to do it again.....but it is inevitable.
Keep up your search. Any way you could come to US and get it done?

Hi Thierry,
After much research I went with Dr. Byrne with Brigham and Women\'s Hospital in Boston, however, if I were out of the country, and distance was not an issue, I would look into the Cleveland Clinic, which is top-rated. Good luck to you, and welcome to the \'club\'.

Hello Thierry,
On 8/2/13 I had my aortic valve replaced with biological tissue. Dr David Adams of Mt Sinai Hospital did the procedure. I can not say enough about Dr. Adams or his entire team. I also have high praise for Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC.
Good luck in your search.
Many thanks for your comment! I was thinking to contact Dr. Paul Stelzer from Mt. Sinai in NYC. He seems to have a lot of experience with the Ross technique!
