I understand you are home. I am relieved that you are. I was quite concerned when I heard the news. I continue to think of you daily, Terry. Please let us know about your progress as you are able.
Terry, let me take a moment to bring you up to date. I was operated on November 5th. It was successful. I am now back in Massachusetts at home. I have my work ahead of me. I am deeply grateful that things have gone well so far. My thoughts remain with you, Terry. All the best.

This is Holly's last post on facebook about Terry...November 3rd...For those who are wondering, my dad is home now and doing fairly well, all things considered. They originally thought he'd be in the rehab facility for many weeks, so its great that he already gets ti be home. He's getting around pretty well, but his right leg is still feeling weird - he's still got strength, but its numb and feels strange to him basically all the time which is driving him a bit mad. His vision is also the same, though he says he sometimes gets this weird feeling like his eye/brain are trying to work but its just not happening yet. Hopefully he'll see some progress soon with that. Prayers for patience while his body works on healing itself, and for his mental well-being as he deals with the emotional roller coaster that comes with having to adjust so many things in his life.

How is Terry doing in rehab. The people on this patient community website have been keeping him in our prayers. If you have a chance, could you let us know how he is doing? Thanks

Hey Terry
At this point I hope you are back in MI. Perhaps you have had a chance to settle in at the rehab center. I hope this will be a week of steady improvement for you. With your attitude and fitness I am sure you will see progress. Please keep us up to date as you are able. All the best.

I am so grateful to Holly, Heidi, and Meghan for keeping us up-dated on your situation, Terry. I thought to myself that for you to have a stroke, you were in the best place for that to happen! Welcome home to Kalamazoo, and we will be coming to see you soon, but I hope not to be a burden. Thanks to God for overseeing your procedure and recovery, with the added blessings of having your family with you.

Thank you so much for your update. Terry, I am thinking of you today. I know you are an extremely active athlete. I believe that your athlete's mindset will be your path to success to recover from your stroke. Your medical team, your family and you have one goal now, complete recovery and I believe you will succeed. My thoughts will be with you, Terry. All the best, my friend.

Hi Holly,
Thank you for your clear update on your Dad, I have been thinking about him. I'm sorry about the complications he has experienced post op; I can imagine it's been a very difficult week for you all. All of us know how serious an event this type of procedure is; we are comforted by the fact that there are such good doctors who know how to handle it all. No doubt your dad will get the quickest and best treatment there is for him. His recovery time is now longer than anticipated. With such a loving family, I am sure he will come out on top. All the best,

Hi Terry,
I hope everything went well for you. Was riding my bike the other day and thinking about how many miles you still put on every year. You are one tough cookie, I'm sure you will come out of this better than ever.

Terry,
Don't know if you will read this before surgery but we are all pulling for you here in the club. I am not a member yet, I am 29 days out from my visit to the Cleve, so you get to join before I do. My thoughts will be with you throughout the day tomorrow. God Speed your Recovery!

I hope you are having a better day today. I also hope your surgeon meeting went well. I am sure you would like to get the surgery done so you can get on the road to recovery. The very best to you tomorrow.

Hi Terry, Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. The catheterization is a breeze. The valve replacement a little more difficult but you will be amazed at how quickly you start to feel better. With Aortic Stenosis we have no other option but it truly is a procedure they have perfected and with proper care you are back on your feet relatively soon. My prayers and best wishes to you and your family. :-)

Be sure and tell your heart surgeon about your cold. My heart surgeon postponed my surgery two weeks because I was getting over a cold. They wanted to make sure I was 100% before surgery.

Hey Terry:
Welcome! Your date is almost here. I agree, there is a relief when yearly "watchful waiting" converts to a surgery date. I will be operated on 11/5 after a number of yearly vists without surgery.
Best of success today with your cardiac cath. and on Friday for the surgery. All the best.
Carol Jackson posted a note for Terry that says:
Wow! Terry, I'm going to be following you especially since I'm now on the other side which i think you have been following. It is so true that another year comes up for tests and this time you think it will be another-" we're still watching it" Isn't it a shock at first and then it's like let's this show on the road.
As I said in my story I had 3 opinions -surgeons local, state and then Mayo. It's where you feel secure and safe. I consulted with my surgeon, Dr. Kevin Greason at Mayo for 4 years so i felt so comfortable with him by that time.
My surgery went well and I am home. Being fit really made it easier for me so I could use core and leg muscles to move and get out of bed and chair after surgery. The nurses were amazed. They took me off the blood thinner early because I moved a lot in the hospital.
Upon coming home they said I could slowly climb stairs once a day. I have a feeling that now that even though the valve is still bicuspid the flow is so much better after repairing the aneurysm that I will not be winded when climbing stairs.
I will be praying for you and your family on Friday. God is good.

Hello! I'm a friend of Meghan's and she shared about your upcoming surgery. I think you'll be in good hands there at Cleveland Clinic. I had surgery there in 2000 (though not heart surgery) and one of the things that struck me was that in the parking deck there were cars from all over the country. I'm praying for a safe, speedy recovery for you.
Judy and Mike posted a note for Terry that says:
Terry-we are so glad you're getting this taken care of. We wish you God speed as you prepare for your surgery! The Cleveland Cilnic is the best-they will take very good care of you! Good luck--sending our love and prayers your way!
