Hello Sebastian - My name is jeffrey - I was 68yo (now almost 70) when I had to get a valve replacement - my aortic valve was allowing blood to leak back into my heart - I felt tired and weak - couldn't lay down and breath - I was truly a mess. I went to see an urgent care doctor who called an ambulance and sent me to the ER. They did a ton of tests and after four days they said I could go home (I wasn't in prison - so they said) - but they also said I would be back - if I didn't have a stroke - heart attack or drop dead first . So I agreeded - not really knowing what was to happen as I told the doctor I didn't wanna know - I said tell me about it when it is all over - anyway - a year and a half later I started to feel better - don't have lack of energy that plagued me for so long - also my afib just went away. Here's what I wanna tell ya - your young - be strong - don't ever give up - push yourself everyday - eat good foods - nutritional foods - look it up if you don't know - drink lots of water - get plenty of sleep and know in your heart your gonna get better everyday. Thank God your still alive - everyday and blessed. Be strong - you have alot of time ahead of you - put yourself on the right track - walk - bike - breath - focus on getting better and you will. God bless.

I was told that I would be pain free in 6 to 8 weeks but I still have quite a bit of pain on my right side what all the scans and tests show nothing and are absolutely normal I am not sure if what I'm feeling is just part of the recovery

mohammad ali Sometimes I question if the surgery was done right if I should get a second opinion. The Doctor who did the surgery is one of the best ones in Louisiana. Even though the hospital told me the recovery time is six to eight weeks the patient's I speak with on-and-off tell me their recovery was more like 6 months to a year and in between they had good days and bad days and they did have pains and aches
