George Gardopee I’ll second (and third) Joshua’s and Marie’s notes above. I was counting on a minimally invasive repair too but calcification in my aorta eliminated that option. Lucky for me, they did a full sternotomy and it enabled the surgeon to fix (unexpectedly) my tricuspid valve at the same time. He would not have been able to fix the tricuspid if he had attempted the mitral repair robotically, so it turned into a big win for me. To echo Marie, I had nothing I would call pain ( except for brief periods of time during IV placement and tube removal) from when I woke up in the ICU to when I was released (or since). Good luck tomorrow.

Rose Madura I too had a full sternotomy and like Marie, did not have much pain at all with it. My advice would be to stay ahead of the pain for the first week or so and then go to Tylenol as soon as you can. It worked just as well as Percocet for me.
