I do not have a brand recommendation, but make sure it is power assisted. I got mine when I had a knee injury several years before my heart surgery, so at the time it was vital for me to have a laptop desk, so I selected it based on that feature, but it only has two controls, for the recline and the leg rest. The angle between the back and the upper leg is fixed, so I need some strength to pull my upper body up to get out of the chair, which was not terrible but uncomfortable for a couple of weeks post heart surgery. Considering how long your husband has been in the hospital, he is probably very weak, so he may benefit from a lift chair. Where I live there is a Relax the Back store, where they have multiple recliners to try, and have knowledgeable people that I could pay to set the chair up in my home. No self assembly required! So if there is a store like that near you, I think it’s worth a visit. Many people on this site have rented one, too, so that may be another possibility. Sorry for the long post, but I hope it helps? Wishing your husband a full recovery!
