Hi, Mari It\'s coming up on your 1 year surgery anniversary....so how are you? just wondering if you are getting one wire removed or all? I am 9 weeks and still extremely sore and sensitive to touch. Surgeon says if it doesn\'t improve in 2 weeks, will get wires taken out as he thinks I am allergic to the wire. Just wondering your experience and how you realized that your wire or wires needed to be removed. roxanne dropko fellow hvj

Is the Bob Jones Trail the same that has a bike trail from San Luis Obispo to the beach? I did this a 100 yrs ago...not really, more like 20 yrs? That will be nice for you to get your wires pulled. I\'m having the exact same thing. I work out for a bit on the treadmill, get the heart rate up to about 130\'ish, crank it up a bit and start jogging--the heart rate starts soaring so I pull it back down. My dr. also told me to keep it at at 145 max. So I\'m just walking really fast now and figure over time the heart will sort itself out. Mari, Haven\'t visited HVJ for quite a while. I\'m a kinda wanna be runner, road biker, swimmer....wanna be triathlete. Re the HR being \"up there\"....three yrs ago after an angioplasty and stent procedure I attended a cardiac rehab program where the philosophy was to keep my HR down...I got \'em to agree to let me go to 140, but found when I did the run on a tri about midway of the rehab program seemed I couldn\'t run without getting to 150 to 155 BPM...found I was OK. Now, last March 11th Cleveland Clinic did a valve job (mitral) repair with a robot...minimally invasive... I found a different rehab program where the philosophy (based on science) is to get us in the hard to very hard range on the Borg Scale...that means we\'re pushing about as hard as we can...do it as part of the aerobic excercise done ea session on the dreadmill, stationary bike, and on the hand cycle. They monitored us with a 4 lead system all the time for the first 6 weeks. They were more concerned with our recovery and the waves they watched on their monitor it seemed than keeping me at below any particular HR max. I did a sprint tri at about 6 wks post surgery, a 5 K run a week later, a couple more 5 K events in late Jul and early Aug, a 1/2 Marathon mid Aug, a couple more sprint tri events mid Aug and end of Aug...another 1/2 M in a couple wks...and, I\'m gonna try a Full M at the end of Oct... Mari, that is GREAT News! Cardiac Rehab is a GOD Send for those of us who have undergone Heart Valve surgery. You will see improvements every day. Dear Mari, I wanted to let you know that I thought about you and your twins yesterday, as I had in my care (for only 4 hr) three 11 yrs old boys! My grandson and his 3 friends are sweet, but more of the Eddie Haskell types (you might be too younger to remember him from Leave It To Beaver). I give you so much credit for being a mom of twin boys 24/7. God knows how to pick the ones to care for His children, doesn\'t He? And after such a big surgery. How did you do in that aspect of recoving with sons who wanted you to play rough with? Love you & have enjoyed your story. Sheila Garrison

You put a BIG smile on my face when I read that you, too, can exercise and not be huffing and puffing within a few mins. It feeling so great to have a strong working heart again. I keep pushing it to see \"when am I going to be out of breath?\" Praise God for all He does for us! May His love and mercy continue to amaze me.
