Since I am new to HVJ I had catching up to you on your story
Congenital heart is has my and my son\'s and my journey
I too have always exercised, swam laps worked full time between each of my 3 open heart surgeries
I am now 3 wks post mitral valve replacement thought pacemaker may have been in my future as rate, rhythem and BP kept me in ICU for 4 days so far heart rate somewhat elevated
Setbacks are no fun, hae had numerous in the past so I have learned, patience, grace and although I still am in alot of pain since 3 X sternotomy as long as I see no other changes I am remaining hopeful and positive
I am 59 and I laughed about buttom downs I had to order button down PJ\'s before surgery as I have scads of pullover tanks etc, anywway minor detail
Hang in there and keep up your journal it is such a wonderful support for all of us

I came across your journal a while back and I had some what of the same experience. I am 30 years old and I had my aortic valve replaced with a tissue valve. My heart stopped for 13 seconds a few days after surgery and ended up having to have a permanent pacemaker put in. I was in the hospital for 10 days all together. I have been waiting for an update on how you are recovering and had not seen anything yet. I have been curious on how things are going with you, hope you are doing well.
