Hi Kylie I am in Victoria about an hour from Melb, love to hear your experience and have same diagnosis as you plus maybe pulmonary valve, also met surgeon and felt a bit like you kinda he was very pushy but I am a bit locked in as he is the top Melbourne surgeon who does valves for people with neuro endocrine cancer that i have and Drs at Peter Mac Cancer Centre tell me I will not be able to have cancer treatment till my heart is fixed first. Thing is I do not have really any symptoms and feel really quite well, bit slow and get a bit breathless, hard to believe I even need surgery at the moment but my Geelong cardio says I do but not to rush it where as the guy in Melb will do it soon so feel very confused. My oncol is also a watchful waiter but in Melb the oncols are very fast moving. Have an appointment at end of month to try and sort it out love to hear from you, no sites in Australia like Adams its brilliant so glad I found it, all the best send me e mails if you like

Kylie Stevens Hi Denise, very glad to meet another Aussie here! Sorry you have so much to deal with at once. How long can you watch and wait the cancer before it needs treatment? I'd be thinking they would need to get your heart sorted ASAP so they were ready to pounce on the cancer just as soon as they needed to. Do you have private health insurance? I don't and I'm curious to find out how long I will have to wait in the public system. I've had a few more tests done and have a couple more before I go back to the cardiologist to find out what it all means. Stay in touch xxx K

Denise Cockayne Hi Kylie Happy Australia Day, thanks for your kind reply and yes you get the drift saying get my heart fixed and then can pounce on this cancer when i need to. I am seeing my heart surgeon next Tue so will let you know. As for the health ins yes I do have private but often wonder if it is worth it? I am a public patient at Peter Mac for my cancer but if I go with the heart surgeon it will be private at The Epworth Hospital, I know people who do wait forever for stuff on the public list in Geelong and Melbourne but I guess if you were considered an emergency case someone would take you. I think my surgeon says it takes him two months to set up a team and sort tests etc so hope this helps a bit. Do keep in touch, I will be pretty nervous Tuesday but we are going to try and do some Melbourne Australia Day stuff to break up the tension, good luck and God Bless and please let me know how things turn out for you.
