Welcome. I found out about my bicuapid valve in a similar way. Met with the surgeon on 12/29/13. Thought I could wait until spring break....he said, we would do it the next week. I don't think there is ever a good time for heart surgery but things always seem to work out. Good luck with all your dr appointments. Really the first few weeks are the hardest. I was able to stay home with just my 5 year old by the 2nd week. And, when yourson mives into college you will have a good excuse not to do any lifting. Keep us posted.

Hello again Kathy. Thanks for the encouragement as well! I wanted to mention one thing that plays in my head as the date is set- I have read over and over in these journals how many people have said that the actual operation was/is a lot less than we/they all made out in their minds prior to the actual surgery. I believe this to be true or it wouldn't be written by many as their experience. I know how easy it is to hop the "anxiety train" that will only go as far as we let us take us for the ride! So we heading in the direction of surgery have to count on ourselves to put on the brakes whenever we can and look forward to the future with our dreams and plans. And the other thing to remember is that there are NO stupid questions! Your thoughts and feelings are important! You will get through this and it will just be on the list of things you experienced who make you who you are. Unique! Focus on those beautiful kids of yours and the many years ahead to continue watching their lives unfold. It is such an exciting time for them right now and you are so lucky to have them! Sorry for the Train ride I took you on as we have a train nearby our home and it just went through. I love it and get a little carried away when it comes through town.
You take care and I will share with you anything you want to know as I move forward.
