Thank you for the reply. Did you have full sternotomy done? Also what type of mechanical valve did you recieve? I am just checking to see if you received a valve that might be part of the lower Coumadin levels. Did they tell you how long the valve should last? Again thank you for any reply . I appreciate it.

Jamie Schenkel Alex, I don't remember which valve I got. I know I have to keep my INR between 2 and 3, which doesn't seem to high. With knowledge and thought, I don't have trouble with it.
I did have a full sternotomy. My aneurysm was big enough they wanted full access.

Jamie Schenkel Dr. Guadagnoli!!! at Medical Center of the Rockies, in Loveland. They are the premiere heart center in the region, covering several states with brand new, state of the art equipment and staff. He was amazing before, during and after. Let me know all options, worked with me, even when others said I should wait and follow the aneurysm. I said I was so scared that the fear would kill me if the aneurysm didn't and he got out his calendar. He has a great bedside manner, something I did NOT expect in the surgeon. I would let him work on me anytime. He was looking at dates, and considered who he wanted to assist for my particular case, so we used that to narrow the field. I felt completely safe in his hands, even when the rest of my family and friends were so worried about the surgery. Another surprise in a surgeon, he was willing to help me get to the Cleveland Clinic, if he thought that was necessary after seeing more tests. I've never known a doctor to admit that someone else might be better. In the end, we decided to stay hear, and I'm so glad we did. I chose a mechanical valve because I'm young and didn't want to have to go through the process again in 10 years. Good Luck! Keep me posted!
