What a brave sole you are for choosing life and knowing how to go about getting some really good care. I commend you. How awful that your repair didn't take but isn't it wonderful to think they can do a replacement? I couldn't imagine going through all that again but then, it's a small price to pay if you can go on and get back to life. Keep us posted. (I'm 4 months post-op mitral valve repair and it's not perfect either!) Cheryl, Ontario
Who would ever think that one would be excited about next step of recovery in nursing home --- but you are and it IS exciting to see the progression! Good luck - it won't be long until you will be home and just coming to visit your good ole' friend.

Hello, we seniors need to stick together. I will be 70 plus when I have my mitral and aortic valves replaced next month. Hope your recovery goes well. You don't have to worry about a repair failing again. Did you have a mechanical or tissue valve?

You have been through so much, you are tough! I'll know after my tests tomorrow whether I'm a candidate for MV repair or replacement and I know that it sounds bizarre but getting first hand accounts from patients who haven't had success first time round (or 2nd for you!)does help reduce my anxieties. You're a survivor and I do hope that your quality of life gets better than before. You deserve it.
Looking forward to your updates.
