Hey Jim, I\'m sad you\'re having to have surgery, but I\'m very glad that you did the right thing and got your breathlessness checked out. You are now in control of it, the doctors know about it, and you\'re in a great position and they can now mend you!
I ws born with aortic stenosis and had to have my first AVR in 2000. I just had it replaced again four weeks ago, as my valve had started to harden and regurgitate. If there is anything you want to ask or know about, however small or large, weird or strange, do not be afraid to ask. Many of us have been there and will help you through! I look forward to hearing about your successful recovery! Rachel xx

Life is good. I'm amazed at what I can do. Pain is totally gone (never was terrible)and the walking for rehab has started. I'm up to a mile a day, 1/2 at a time. The shortness of breath during mild exercise is gone.
They did 5 by passes and a cow valve plus replaced an enlarged aorta.
I guess I was a walking time bomb. The heart valve was from birth and the 5 bypasses was from all the cheese burgers.
I had the whole overhaul and expect full recovery +
