Hi Donna! I hope you are doing well. I saw we had our surgeries a day apart! Are you doing rehab? How does your incision feel? I know of you had the sternotomy and I had robotic, but my skin is still numb and when I over do it, feels like sandpaper is scraping it. 😮 But it's tolerable. I actually kept my bra on most of the day today. 😄

Donna Casaletto Yes, I’ve been in rehab for 3 weeks now 2 days a week! Loving the exercise portion! My incision is healing as good as expected!! Buying a lot of high neck tops and constantly applying mederma and coconut oil on it.

Hello Donna
I hope that you are improving with each day and that your back pain has subsided. Getting out of bed and walking really helped me a lot. The mobility keeps all the muscles, joints and bones fluid. The stretch regimen during cardio rehab was a huge boost. I had to "unlearn" my counter productive habits of over-reaching & "bouncing" during the exercise. I tried just charging ahead of my abilities, and had to adjust to making steady, metered progress. That was my experience. I'm sure others were/are able to recover much quicker. Donna Casaletto I know 😳🙈‼️Now that Covid cases are decreasing Mass General Brigham have started opening their research studies. I opted for 2 of the studies ( How listening to music can help heal cardiac patients recovery and the other one involves wearing a Fitbit before surgery ( a week or two and post op ) to help prevent post op complications. Well I just tried my ECG reading with my Fitbit that they provided and it gave me an inconclusive message because my heart rate is too high 141 bpm 😳😳😳😳

Richard Munson In basic terms he says getting mitral valve surgery early rather than later is good medicine regarding this ejection fraction. Google ejection fraction to know what it is. I never did well in school on fractions lol. He notes a reading of 55 being good. Mine was 55-60 on last weeks echo so i was pleased with that.

You will feel fantastic and relieve the life of things you missed. Its fantastic! Not immediately but over time your body will start to repair and the first thing you will notice is that your skin will rejuvenate and spots wrinkles exciters will dissipate permanently!

Hi Donna,
I had the same surgery and due to severe valve calcification had to go also through the sternum. The pain was not bad at all. As your doc said, I can wear v-necks:). It was actually better that the surgeon went through the sternum, because he saw that my tricuspid also needed some work🙂. One stop shopping, as I call it. You will get through this faster, stronger, will less pain and with more courage than you might been thinking. Focus for now on the prize- recovery and a way healthier you!!! ❤️

Should have saved you a piece of my very tasty boston cream pie you spotted in the picture. One of my favorites but sweets before heart surgery are not recommended. I just made that up of course but my daughter brought it down from beverly. It was a shaws version. My other daughter came up from ct. with home made butter crunch. My son brought me a huge bag of sour patch kids. All non fattening versions of course. Lol.
