I am 10 weeks out and in the past 2 weeks I\'ve been feeling the same pain at my incision site that I felt right after surgery. I didn\'t know if something is wrong or not. I\'m guessing its the healing process or over doing it. Usually if I over do it my shoulders and upper back let me know.

Hi Dennis,
I\'m not sure how common it is, but I know that my pacer wires were left in and they did not even attempt to pull them out at all. They just simply pushed down very hard on my abdomen and cut them so that they were still in my body but no longer exposed above my skin. I\'m not sure why they didn\'t try to take them out at all, but it might have been because I was on anticoagulation at the time.

Dennis, thank you for your quick response. I get the feeling you were not in AF prior to surgery only afterwards and they gave you the Cardiac shock treatment and it only worked for awhile. I have been in AF for 4 years the first time after heart failure I was given Cardioversion and it worked really well for over 15 months. Then it slipped back into AF and even after the Cardioversion again it only lasted a few minutes in Sinus. So as well as my MVR I am happy the surgeon will perform the Ablation. You will soon be really well again and able to live up to your namesake .Dennis the Menace!!! Gab

So good to read your post and hear how well you are doing after just a short time. You can only get better from now on. Dennis I am glad your heart is in Sinus Rhythm now, did you have an Ablation during your surgery? I am having Mitral Valve Repair next week and having the Ablation to stop the A fib. I know my life will be 100% better than now. Sending healing greetings from Australia.

Dennis McCall I'm not sure if they did anything about A-Fib during surgery but about 3 days later I was in A Fib and they put me asleep and shocked my heart to get proper rhythm. this only lasted 2 days and reverted back into A-Fib. I was discharged that way. After about 1 week during the night the A Fib stopped and I returned to Sinus rhythm. It has remained good for about 1 week. Best wishes on your surgery..
