I also had low hemoglobin - 93 after surgery. This caused me to tire very easily. My GP put me on iron pills and I was more or less normal in about 4 weeks and I felt much better by then. This may have been the reason why I always wanted to nap in the early afternoon!
I felt the pain as I read the journal and I want to tell you that I am so proud of you.
You had quite a workout and now is time for you to enjoy your total recovery.
Keep your proactiveness and everything will come back to normal.
I love you dearly and wish you all the best!
Hi Carolina, Wow that was quite a story. I was fighting back the tears. Im so glad you made it thru all of that and your husband as well. Had to be just as hard on him. Well now I hope you have a whold lot of really good days and get all recovered. Good luck to you.
Mooving on up

You and I will have the same surgeon - Dr. LeClerc! He does a great job on the incision as he doen't use staples and somehow stitches you up from the inside.
LeClerc is fantastic and I had excellent care at St. Mary's. I only experienced pain once when I wondered to a diiferent area of the floor and missed my meds by about an hour. The rest of the time I was fine.
Carolina - Yourself & my husband are scheduled for surgery the same day! We are not sure yet what time his surgery will be on Thursday. Will keep watch on your site to see your updates. Charlie is getting nervous but he can't wait to have it behind him at the same time. Keep the faith girl! Charlie's wife Julia:-)
Nat and I wish you all the best and are sending all our positive thoughts your way as you continue to prepare for your surgery... let us know if there is anything we can do. Miss you around the office already, but looking forward to your return!
Very good info on the preop. I already know I don't eat foods high in iron, but I will make sure I do now!!! Stay steady and strong - your wait is short for surgery. Soon you will be over your mountain and on the other side!!!
Thanks for sharing your journey this way - your strength and positive outlook throughout this procedure will be an inspiration to many others like yourself to go through this with a lot less anxiety and fear - you should be proud! I certainly am!!
You will be in our thoughts and prayers on August 8th - prompt recovery!
Hey Carolina, I guess we never know what life will bring us, but I must say you come across as a very strong lady with a great family backing and always a smiling face.
May God be with you if thats your faith never doubt the power of pryer.
Avec toute l'énergie et le coeur ;) que je te connais je n'ai aucun doute que tu vas subir cette opération et te remettre a la vitesse de l'éclair...je vais penser a toi
Thank you for posting your story, I had not heard about your heart condition. I look forward to reading more about your amazing post surgery recovery and return to all the things that you love to do.
Please keep us posted and know that all of our prayers and best wishes are with you.
Welcome to HVJ. I found a lot of great info here as well as great support. You'll have your surgery only a few days before me....mine is on Aug 13 here in Sacramento California. Mine is for the Mitral Valve, but like you I had shortness of breath. The closer I get to this date the more I wonder do I really need this? After reading DVB's journals I understand it has to be done. Rely on the experts. Good luck to you. I'll be praying.
