Beth, Welcome to our heart family! I had hoped to have my mitral valve repaired too. Unfortunatelymy surgeon felt it was best to replace as it was so bad.
The good news is I am just over 12 months post op. Also have a pig valve. Am doing well. I still sometimes have fuzzy moments.
Each day you will get stronger and stronger. My new valve gave me more energy, no fluttering and my lungs are performing well.
