Hi Autumn,
Thanks for the note. I first saw Dr. Nagajothi at mercy. I was referred to him by my family doc after my echo showed the faulty valve. He did a TEE and a heart cath and said I should have surgery soon. From there I told him we wanted the clinic's opinion. They wanted to observe for a few months so that's where I am at. I know people travel from so far away to go to the clinic I feel like I'm lucky to be so close. I know insurance plays a part there for you so I'm sure aultman is a fine place to start. Good luck.

Autumn Griffin Thank you so much for your information. I was just wondering. I am so confused but I will see what the cardiologist says I see him in a few weeks and go from there. My family doctor recommended him and I am very confident in my family doctor. He has been my doctor for 20+ years I know he wouldn't steer me wrong.

Autumn- Sometimes the people closest to us don't know how to approach a perceived threat to their world especially the people they love most in this life and
the fact that we have the threat of some kind of surgery to mend our hearts hanging out there and the comfort of a routine has been disrupted putting them in a place where they want to help us but have no idea what it is we go through as this journey expands into "world of gathering information while we wait for tests and surgery dates. We have wandered off to a bunch of Heart Brothers and Sisters for support and information that does require wading in and meeting online for the very support intended by the site so that we most importantly(I feel) Keep the feeling within our hearts and souls that we are not alone but with a group of people all around the world who will support us through and after our journey in most cases for months or
years. You are not wrong to feel the discomfort of someone questioning your time online but kindly remind him of all the positive things that go with being able to pull aside all of the curtains to know what is behind them and the things that are in your future and who will be the best people to provide you the best care. I have been working out in the sun and just came in to sit down and get a cold glass of water so I hope I haven't wandered off the path but wanted you to feel someone wants your husband to understand your needs as this progresses towards your surgery. I think things will become clearer to their importance as he understands the direction you are heading while becoming more informed himself. Hope so. Keep the Faith and take care.
Autumn Griffin Thank you very much. I appreciate your wisdom.

Hello Autumn- I read your "story" and I want to tell you that one of the things you are experiencing "STRESS" as you begin your Heart Journey can be behind a lot of things that pop up once you begin to find your direction and what is really happening to your heart. It Is also hard for our partners/spouses/those closest to us to get a handle on things that they also don't know anything about or know how to help us mentally with as we wade into the place from diagnosis, testing and information we find from other people or from getting on the various websites. Take your time and I have one piece of advice and that is that try your best to realize that working on the stress this brings to your life will benefit your "coping" and help your heart deal with it as well.
When frightened, nervous and working through the beginnings of learning what is happening with your heart you will hopefully be tested well, become comfortable with a heart cardiologist who will be a great source of not only information but in most cases comfort in determining how to move forward and the timing involved in getting your heart "fixed". You need to know that many, many of us have been where you are now and we here at our community will be here for you to help you get to where you need to be ready and healthy for what is in your future. So rest easy tonight and know you are not alone and that this is one of the best places around to
get the support, understanding and comfort you will need. One day at a time Autumn and you will find yourself less and less overwhelmed and becoming more and more prepared and ready for your future with your mended heart if that is what needs be.
Take care Heart Sister....Hope this helps a little as I am exhausted from chasing my 11 week old puppy around today! Night.

Autumn Griffin Thank you so much! That information is very helpful. I know I have a lt of anxiety about this which is abnormal for me to get anxious about something being wrong with me. I guess it is because it is my heart and it is a very important part of your body. I started reading Adam's book and realized he had the same problem so I didn't feel so alone.

Terrie Syvertsen Yes Autumn-You did what I did when I first found out that the time was getting closer whereby I would need surgery. Bought Adam's book as it was the only thing that drew my attention at Barnes and Noble on the subject. Went home and read it cover to cover curled up on the same recliner I spent most of my recovery reading in and it was a big help for me as well. The site here was the best thing that ever happened to me though as I met people who fully understood all that I questioned, all that I was feeling and it was the greatest gift I could have been given just at the right time....a real blessing. Glad you are one of us and hope we all as a community can give you all the support, answers and understanding that this calls for! It is an important time in your life and one you will SURVIVE!

Autumn Griffin Thank you so much!! I appreciate that. I was very glad to read your post . It is wonderful to know you are doing something you love and you get to spend time with the ones you love. I really need this place because I think my husband is in denial about my little heart problem and I don't want to tell any of my family until after I see the cardiologist. I don't want to worry anyone unless there is something to really worry about so it will be nice to talk to you all. And knowing you have been through it is helpful in ways no one else would know. Thanks again !!
