ARTURO, September 2010 I was diagnosed by a cardiologist I had a bad aortic valve. December 9th, 2010 it was replaced with a pericardial tissue heart valve. I didn't want to deal with a blood thinner medicine. All went well. I was released 4 days later on account I had walked around the hospital at 9 p.m. on 3rd night looking for a Diet Pepsi without a walker(I refused to use a walker). I had took elevator off the heart ward. I did no rehab. I would take walks every half hour during daytime for 1st 2 days at home and then increased each day for 15 minutes more for next 5 days. The following week, I did mile and half walks in morning and afternoon. The one doctor order I did follow was not lift any weight over a gallon of milk. Good luck to you in your replacement. I was 58
