It is funny, but although a number of patients on this site had warned readers about the neck and shoulder pain, nothing really prepares you for it. I was lucky - a remedial masseur friend of mine came to hospital and they let him work on me from early.
I also found the Young Living PanAway and Deep Relief essential oil roll on fantastic.
I am going to look up your suggestion about the Bemer though - I wonder if they have it in Australia.

I had a similar experience after my AVR surgery, I was in afib in spite of the striations they made on my heart to prevent it.
One month after surgery they gave me a cardio version as an out patient procedure. That shocked me back into normal rhythm and I've been in regular rhythm ever since.
The doctors told me that a certain percentage of patients have this problem. Welcome to the certain percentage. :-)
Your heart may go back into regular rhythm on its own, but if you need a cardio version, don't worry about it. It is pretty routine.

Great to hear you are going well. I have had atrial flutter, with atrial fibrillation a number of times over the last year. The electric shock was not done under general anesthetic, but a pretty strong sedative - I certainly don't remember it.
I too was very disappointed after my mitral valve replacement and maze procedure when the heart rhythm just wouldn't settle down. I ended up going back to emergency a few times it was so bad, and I was on beta blockers already. Patience is the key though - it does find its normal rhythm and I hope yours does very soon.

So so glad you are home. I thought of you last Tuesday as we headed in. Looks like you are progressing well? I received a 5 inch incision for my Barlow's repair. The repair took 2 hours. Degree of difficulty 8-9. It was a toughy. It will take time for me to heal. You will be a bit ahead of me I expect! Wonderful news.
