Reinforcing the Pulmonary Autograft with Dacron During the Ross Procedure
The Ross procedure is a highly specialized aortic valve replacement technique that provides long-term durability and excellent hemodynamic performance. However, one of the key considerations in this procedure is whether-or-not to reinforce the pulmonary autograft with a Dacron graft. Over time, the autograft can dilate, leading to complications such as aortic root aneurysms and aortic regurgitation. To minimize these risks, surgeons have developed various techniques to reinforce the autograft (Video posted on July 8, 2025)
