Hi I am Vikram, I have Bicuspid Arotic Valve, but I only got to know couple of years back, I am 32 years now, & all my life I wasn't aware I have the condition. Currently I have mild regulation of the valve and few symptoms of fatigue, low energy sometimes I feel have palpitations. My echo test results are fine doctor advised no surgery or medication required at this stage only echo every 2 years & regulated heart healthy diet & safe dental procedures. But my actual concern is my overall growth or development is not up to my age, mentally I am fit like every one else, but physically I am still looking as I am in early 20's, I am unable to gain weight, I am always lean I eat proper food and tried workouts and all but never made any difference and always have constant stomach issues I read somewhere your heart conditions can impact your overall development as it effects your gut health and yours body abilities to absorb nutrients from food can some let me know if that's the case, as I did other tests no other issues every thing is ruled out except the heart condition. As I am married know I would like to know how this condition will effect my family life, and can I have kids as everyone who to overcome my challenges and put on some weight are they related to the condition if someone has gone through a similar phase kindly share your thoughts and provide your suggestions

Marie Myers Sounds a bit like me, only i am 71 now. I didn’t find out about my bicuspid aortic valve until i was in my 20’s. My valve also was regurgitant, and i experienced some palpitations through the years. My valve never limited my life or activities in any way, and I was very active. Luckily for me, my valve lasted till I was 63, when I developed an aneurysm, which can occur with bicuspid aortic valves. Monitoring the valve is the right course of action, and hopefully you may never need to have surgery. I am also very thin, and have been my whole life. I think my body makeup is more a factor of genetics, as my mother was also very petite and thin. Not sure the bicuspid valve has anything to do with your being thin. I would say enjoy your efficient metabolism while you have it! The stomach issues are another unrelated problem, and hopefully you can find some answers to that issue. Hope that helps!

Marie Myers I did get married (43 years now!), but didn’t have kids by choice. There is a chance that the bicuspid valve can be passed down genetically. When i was diagnosed, my doctor told me that my siblings should be tested, and neither of them had the aortic valve issue.

Mona G Hi Vikram! I am 32 years old too. I was born with Bicuspid valve. My stenosis changed from mild to moderate during pregnancy. After pregnancy it changed from moderate to severe. But Thank god I delivered a healthy baby. I've been skinny my whole life. Dont worry about it consider that as an advantage lol. Since you have mild stenosis just be careful with lifting heavy things and climbling. I hope and pray you wont need surgery at all!!

Vikram Chandra Thanks Mona, even I want to have kids just concerned about the issues although my wife is quite healthy she has no health issues. I would like to know usually it takes certain time to change the valve conditions from mild to moderate to serious like it may take years but in your case it changed in less than year due to know the reason for that and have you had a surgery when your condition is serious
