Hi - As you read in my story I have severe mitral regurgitation that will be addressed through either repair or replacement with a metal valve. As I have an auto-immune disease the metal valve is my only option if repair doesn't work. I have enjoyed reading the journals and I wish I had something like this when I had my ASD repaired 26 yrs ago. Please let me know if you have experienced this situation or know of someone who has as I am looking for more information on the outcomes. Thanks.
Update: As I have had a bad cold, my surgery has been postponed until Nov 23, 2009.
Update: I just heard about Kryptonite - a bone glue that adheres the sternum together after surgery rather than wiring it shut. Apparently, the recovery time is much faster & less painful. Has anyone heard of it & how successful it is with this surgery.
