Hello my name is Shannon, I found out I was born with a BAV at age 37 after I developed clots in my leg and both lungs. This is when they found my heart condition I never knew I was living with until that day. I found out a lot actually that day in the hospital. I found out I was born with a clotting disorder called Factor V Leiden which makes you clot easier. That is when they told me I was born with a BAV and I had over sometime developed a ascending aortic aneurysm which is currently 4.6 cm. They believe this is from a genetic condition related to TBX1 but they are not sure. So for now I am thankful I'm hear and I found out about my heart condition. I get checked about once a year for my aneurysm. I'm hear to join and meet others and learn from others. I'm currently now 43 years old scared to age as I know what is in my future.

Daniel Green Hey Shannon, I don’t know much about your clotting situation but I was diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm 9 years ago. It was 4.8 cm. Turned out it was the valve the drove the surgery this past January. They repaired the aneurysm, replaced the aortic valve, did a maze procedure and clipped my left atrium where blood clots form in your heart. If I were you I would research this website, you might be a candidate for the Ross procedure and speak to some surgeons you find here and get their opinions. This site is a tremendous resource. Good Luck!
