Cardio rehab has been great. It seems to start out slow, but they monitor your progress well and move you up accordingly. I am improving with each visit and it helps me to be patient with myself. Glad to here that everyone is doing fine.Remember what Adam says "Keep on tickin."
Yesterday I signed up for cardio rehab. Currently walking three miles a day, which I will continue to do. I have signed up for 36 visits, but hope not to go that long. Have any of my HVJ friends gone for that length of time and did it help in your recovery?
Went to see my surgeon and cardiologist yesterday and was given the green light!!! Everything is going well and follow up in three months with the cardiologist. Will be setting up appts. for cardo-physical rehab today. Hopefully will be starting my home testing for coumadin in the next couple of weeks. Closing one chapter of life and starting another. Thank you HVJ friends for prayer and support.
HVJ friends, Doing great!! I am walking farther and getting stronger each day. It is hard for me not to go beyond what I am supposed to do, but not pushing the envelope. Fifteen days post-op I had my first sneeze. Glad I had my heart pillow. I survived. Thanks to all HVJ friends for your prayers and support!!
I am feeling better. Due to bad weather I was not able to walk yesterday. But I am walking up to a half mile twice a day when I can. I am enjoying lots of family and friends who come by to visit and they are surprised to see how well I am healing. It's the power of prayer. The sun just came out and I think I will take another walk. Take care HVJ friends!
I walked from the house to the mailbox this morning and it felt great!! But I must say that your body will let you know when to slow down. It started raining this afternoon,so I'm glad I was able to enjoy being outdoors today. My throat is still sore from the tubes. I haven't sneezed yet and hope it doesn't happen!!! Well, listening to the rain and enjoyimg it. Take care HVJ friends
Home this afternoon and boy does it feel good!!! Felt better this morning and I got my walking papers. When we got home my neighbor had left dinner in the fridge. The hospital food is ok, but there is nothing like a home cooked meal. I am taking my HVJ friends advice and not going to overdo it. One day at a time. Thanks again for the many prayers and confidence builders you all have given.
The jury is still out about going home today. I had some blood loss and am a little anemic. To be on the safe side I believe that my cardiologist is going to keep me one more day. Thats ok,because the nurses are taking bets on who will win the race down the hallway today!! Lol Christ is in control of al things and I thank you for all your prayers
Hey everyone, I walked the hallways today. A little wobbly at first. They have a chart at the nurses station that you sign off on each time you walk. The caregivers staff at OLOL are great!! A long day today, now getting ready for bed. thanks again for your prayers and well wishes.
Leaving for the hospital. My daughter will keep updates. Thank you alll for your prayers. God bless
This is Robert's daughter. Not sure how to create a new entry but I figured out how to edit previous entries :) therefore, I will add to this one. We are waiting; the surgery started at 9:20am. My father is the most amazing man God ever blessed this earth with. My brother and I are the most fortunate of God's children to be graced with him as our Dad. I know he will be okay through his strength, his will, and his faith. He has a supportive team of many people and our Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for all the prayers and support, and please keep it coming.
All pre-op has been completed and it is a go!! The booklet given to me during orientation is very informative. I felt like I was a special person. Will pack my bags this weekend and have a wonderful time with my children. Thank you all again for prayers. And as Adam has said "Keep on Tickin"
Have an appt. for pre-op instructions Feb.2nd. It includes chest x-ray,EKG,blood gases, lab work, urinalysis, and pre-op teaching. Not quiet ready to pack my bags but counting the days.My son will be flying in the weekend before surgery and my daughter will be here the night before surgery. They have been such great support for me, as well as friends. Did not mention in my story that an On-X mechanical valve will be the replacement valve. Slowed down on my physical activity for now. Went back to work not wanting to be a forgotten man, but not as a firefighter.Time to get ready for work.
