Hi all
Good to be in this community.
My dad is diagnosed with moderate aortic stenosis and 3 blocks in arteries(all within 80%). He is 66 and does not have a history of heart issues or diabetes. He has mild to moderate hypeetension and on medication for that.
I would like to know if the above condition is manageable with medicines for sometime.
Thank you so much
Richard Munson That sounds like a question only a doctor should answer.

Richard Munson Someone might know. My only thought as just a voice on the street ( or blog i guess) would be that if i were a doctor giving out that kind of advice without actually seeing a patient would be a bad idea. Plus how accurate would that information be. A better thought might be to get a couple of in person opinions instead of relying on one set of eyes. You would be surprised of the different opinions out there. I am no expert on blockages but 80% is getting up there i think. When i was told i had mitral valve prolapse by my local doctor it was moderate, i took it up a notch and went to see a cardiologist at mass general who specialized in mitral valves and he said it was heading toward severe, which prompted my surgery. I had no symptoms by the way. Any doctor worth his salt will not object to a second opinion. Your dad only has one heart and you sound like a caring daughter so i would go the in person route. Just sayin.

Deena Elani Hi Meenu, it’s great that you are asking these questions now. I totally agree with Richard’s thoughts. Your Dad is at a tipping point and I would go to the best surgeons and cardiologists for medical opinions. Your dad may not even have to travel. Could be performed virtually, if you send the physicians your Dad’s ECHO images and report, plus angiogram results. Have no regrets!
