Wires painful 18 years post double bypass surgery.
I understand this website is for patients requiring valve surgery but perhaps someone can help with this problem re: bypass surgery. If someone knows of a site that is better suited for bypass surgery problems, please inform me.
I\'m writing on behalf of my husband who had double bypass surgery 18 years ago while in his late 30\'s.
To this day he still has pain caused by the wires used to hold the sternum together. He cannot wear a seat belt and it\'s painful wearing button down shirts. His wires can be felt through his skin by placing your hand on his chest.
Throughout the years we\'ve visited many surgeons, including the one who originally performed the surgery but is now retired. Some surgeons have said to learn to live with the pain others have said to have them removed. Does anyone else have or had this problem or know of anyone who has. If so, what have they done about it? Any info received would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
