Marie Myers Could take some Benadryl (diphenhydramine) if no allergy to it. Did he start any new drugs? Could be anything from a drug reaction to the anxiety of the upcoming surgery. If there is any difficulty breathing I would go to the ER. At least call your doc and get his take on it.

My husband had aorta valve replacement, double by pass and thoracic aneurysm repair on Jan. 30, 2018. It's almost two months since the surgery and he will be starting cardiac therapy in April. His major complaint since the surgery is shortness of breath which gives him major anxiety. Is this common in patients after undergoing this procedure? Also as a spouse anything I say he takes offensively. Is anyone else experiencing this and if so how do they deal with it?
